Brooklyn born and raised, I come from a long line of home grown artists.
A family of seamstresses, woodworkers, potters, photographers, musicians and storytellers. I have always viewed the world through a different lens. Brooklyn Treat Shoppe allows me to combine my passion for art with my passion for food.
I studied painting, pottery and sculpture at various colleges throughout NYC and Classic Pastry Arts at the French Culinary Institute. After graduating from the FCI in NYC, I trained closely with well known chefs such as, Ron Ben Israel and Jacques Torres.

Our concept is something near and dear to my heart...home. I want everything we do to make you, our customer, feel at home.

Marita Pereira

Chief Recipe Tester & Taste Tester Extrordinaire
Marita has a different view of food than most Americans. She should, after living in India at a young age for a few years. Her knowledge of spices and food science always blow us away.
As a graduate of the Art Institute's Culinary Program, and a current student at LaGuardia Community College, where she is studying nutrition, Marita fascinatingly knows so much about the chemical reactions of food and how things should be put together. This knowledge and her outrageous stories of her life on a coconut farm in India make her an asset we couldn't live without.

Elizabeth Weiss

Production & Design Assistant
Elizabeth has a really great eye for design and appreciates our obsession with edible glitter.
She's a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education's Pastry Program and is currently studying Art History & Business Management at CUNY's Brooklyn College. When she isn't baking and decorating cakes, Elizabeth spends her time crafting and creating art.
